Product photography for furniture & home goods

STILLLIFE

We photograph the furniture you make the way a buyer actually sees it — the grain, the joinery, the weight of the light. Stills and short film, booked by the shoot.

Trusted by independent makers and e-commerce home brands across New England — from reclaimed-oak workshops to ceramics studios shipping nationwide.

Shoot packages

Priced by the
shoot, not the hour

Every package is a fixed scope with a fixed number of final, retouched files. You know what you'll pay and what you'll get before the backdrop goes up. Volume beyond a package is quoted per additional SKU.

Before you book

“A photograph of furniture has one job: make a stranger online trust the weight of it — the grain, the finish, how light sits in the joinery.”

The working principle at Mallet & Grain

How do I get my pieces to the studio?

Most makers drop off at 173 Haverhill Ave the day before a shoot, or ship ahead and we uncrate and stage. For large or finished-on-site builds we also shoot on location within greater Rhode Island.

When do I get the files back?

Retouched stills land within ten working days of the shoot; lifestyle film clips within fourteen. Rush turnaround for a launch date is available — tell us the deadline before we book.

What if a shot isn't right?

Every package includes one round of revisions on selected files, and any reframe or relight we agreed to and missed is reshot at no charge within seven days.

Do I own the images?

Yes. You receive a full commercial licence for all delivered stills and clips across listings, ads, and print catalogs. We keep the right to show the work in our own portfolio.

Can you match our existing look?

Send your current catalog or a reference set and we'll build a lighting template to sit beside it — so a new piece doesn't look like it was shot by someone else.

vs. the studio table

The usual rush job

Shot in the workshop

  • Mixed daylight and shop fluorescents flatten the grain and shift the finish colour.
  • Every SKU looks slightly different, so your catalog reads as inconsistent.
  • Backgrounds you'll crop out anyway — a sawdust floor, a half-open door.
  • No video, so the listing can't show how a drawer glides or a leaf folds.
Mallet & Grain

Shot on a controlled set

  • A single lighting template holds colour and grain true across the whole line.
  • Hard key light raked across the surface to read joinery, edge, and finish.
  • Clean white-sweep plus a styled scene — the spec shot and the aspirational one.
  • Short motion clips cut for the exact ratios your ads and listings need.

Your first shoot

What to send ahead

  • 01

A SKU list and your angles

Tell us each piece, its dimensions, and which views your listings need — three-quarter hero, straight-on, detail of the joinery or hardware. We build the shot list from it before you arrive.

  • 02

    Your finish & a reference

Note the wood, stain, and sheen, and point us at any existing catalog image you want the new work to sit beside. Matte oak and high-gloss lacquer want different light — we set for it ahead of time.

  • 03

    Where the files are going

Shopify, Amazon, a printed catalog, paid social — each wants a different crop and resolution. Tell us the destinations and we deliver files already sized and named for them.
